Participation modalities
To become a member of the SPQR Team, you must first attend an introductory lecture and successfully complete the corresponding homework assignment.
Once the prerequisites are met, there are two ways to participate on the team:
Team Member: This role requires a consistent commitment throughout the year. You will be expected to contribute to numerous team tasks, attend mandatory weekly meetings, and participate in testing sessions as needed. Team Members are eligible for consideration to compete with the team at the annual RoboCup competition, held internationally each July.
Project Contributor: In this role, you will be assigned a specific task that aligns with your interests and benefits the team. Your responsibility will be to complete this task within our simulated environment and subsequently test it on the real robots. Regular attendance at meetings and testing sessions is not required, unless it pertains directly to discussing or testing your specific task. Please note that Project Contributors are generally not selected for the RoboCup competition team, although exceptions can be considered.
Choosing Your Role
Not sure how much time you can dedicate? If you're passionate about robotics but have limited availability, the Project Contributor role allows you to contribute meaningfully. However, if you're able to invest more time, we strongly encourage applying to be a Team Member.
Why become a Team Member? We believe it offers an amazing opportunity to learn extensively and gain unforgettable experiences as a core part of the team. Remember, your initial choice isn't set in stone – you can potentially change roles later as your circumstances evolve. Ultimately, this is a voluntary effort, and we value any contribution you're willing to make.
Furthermore, experience gained in advanced projects like SPQR is a significant asset for your future career and looks great on your resume!
